My Aunt’s House
at The Children’s Home provides homeless teen mothers and their
children with a home, basic necessities, adult supervision and guidance as well
as the services they need in order to grow into healthy, strong families.
Our program ensures the safety and health of teen mothers and
their children during the crisis of homelessness. With our assistance, the teen
mothers create and implement plans for adequate living to prevent repeated
homelessness. Our supports and services bolster these young families with life
skills that prepare them for more independent living situations. While in our
program, teens progress toward high school graduation, achieving their GED, or
otherwise preparing for the work world. They also receive counseling and
education to delay further childbearing as they work toward greater maturity and
stability.
My Aunt’s House offers child development education to help the
mothers keep their children developmentally on target. We provide access to
child care so that the teen moms can work on their educational and career goals
in order to create a more stable home life for their family. Mothers and their
children also have access to therapists, psychiatrists, the on-campus nurse,
educational supports, and numerous other services available at The Children’s
Home.
