It is the policy of The Children’s Home to ensure the confidentiality of every client record. Procedures are in place and staff is trained in how to safeguard client records, which are the property of the agency. These measures include reasonable and appropriate physical, administrative, and technical safeguards to protect client’s Protected Health Information. Agency procedures ensure that client records are protected against loss, tampering, defacement or use by unauthorized persons. The Children’s Home also recognizes that clients and specified other parties have limited rights to access client records. The agency provides access to these individuals as outlined in the agency’s procedures and as permitted by law. The Children’s Home also acknowledges that authorized users, as defined in related procedures, are assured unrestricted access to the record at all times. In accordance with North Carolina General Statutes and federal regulations, agency procedures for ensuring confidentiality of client information are followed by agency staff.
